When I got back to Costa Rica after a 6-week visit to Canada, I was greeted by the spring flowers. While up north it’s almost winter, here the change of season is expressed in the plants rather than the weather.
It’s natural for things to change regardless of where we live. We expect it to happen, look forward to it, and enjoy the changes in seasons.
And just like with the weather, we go through different seasons in both our lives and businesses. Most people see that change as defeat or a mistake, but that’s usually not the case at all.
Being completely transparent, I’ve gone through a really challenging time in my business and I feel that it’s time to start over. I view it as an incredible opportunity in disguise.

Most people love to have changes in their lives, but not necessarily ones that affect their business. They view starting over as defeat, a mistake, or even a reflection of what they’re capable of.
All of us start over at different points in our lives. In fact, I got to one of the top positions in our company on two separate occasions; and I had to start over. But what did that teach me? It taught me that I had it in me, that it was possible to achieve my goals, and that a new beginning allows me to do things differently than I had before.
If I need to, I can change my focus, work on areas I’m not as proficient in and learn new things I didn’t make time for earlier. Starting over is a time to reflect, reevaluate and recommit to my business and the plans I have for it.
As I go through this process, I want to invite you to join me. Together we can learn and grow, because not only do our businesses change, but the world around us does too.
