He didn’t think we’d have enough money or that we’d be able to make it work.
I’d been telling him for years that when we were ready to retire, I’d still have money coming in whether I was working or not… but he didn’t believe me or understand how that was possible.
It wasn’t until years later that he understood how I created a source of residual income, and that moment changed everything.

It’s not as hard as you might think.
I remember the time my husband looked at me and said, “Oh my gosh, we really can retire.”
I’d been telling him for years that at a certain point, whether I was working or not, I’d continue to have residual income.
It was based on people having a membership with the company I worked with, and as long as they kept that membership, I’d continue to be paid from it.
That residual income has given us so many incredible opportunities that we wouldn’t have had otherwise.
I see a lot of people down here in Costa Rica who are living on social security because that’s all they have. They didn’t save enough, weren’t able to save enough, or they ended up having to spend their money during the recession in 2009.
It’s heartbreaking to see people trying to live like that. But I believe that anyone is capable of creating a source of residual income if they want to.
