Meet the PresenterLorna Rasmussen portrait

Lorna Rasmussen is an author of The Absolute Best Way for Women to Make Money and a very successful business woman. However, for the first half of her life Lorna struggled. As she says “ I’ve tried ever way that’s legal and moral to make a living.” She more than made up for a rocky start by becoming a great  success and now living a life that most people only dream of.

In this webinar, Lorna provides a series of revealing exercises, questions and information so you can come to your own conclusion of what is your best course of action. She will share with you what she thinks is the Absolute Best Way for Women to Make Money.

A word from Lorna

I want to start by introducing myself and explaining why I wanted to share this webinar with you.

Like many, I was at one point in my life searching for a real change. I was working hard but not getting ahead and I certainly was not feeling satisfied with my life.

As a new mother I wanted time, as a business owner I wanted success and as a person I wanted significance.

I felt like I was on the down escalator and the end didn’t look pretty. Fortunately I was introduced to a series of ideas that took me on a journey that would change my life forever.

I will literally be taking you on my journey. We’ll look at all the ways I and many others have tried in an effort to achieve the lifestyle we felt we deserve. But this isn’t about me or anyone else. It is about you. Together we’ll go through exercises to help you become very clear about what you really want. Then I will share with you what I discovered that led me to live a lifestyle that I could only have dreamt of.

So, what are your dreams? What do you want your life to look like? Are you making the money you want to and living the life you feel you deserve for all your hard work? Are you on course to retire as you would like to? Do you have the time to enjoy your family or to do the things that are important to you?

Once I had the necessary information I was astounded to find that it wasn’t that difficult to start creating a six-figure income. With a little elbow grease and perseverance, I was able to buy back my time and start enjoying life. I was accomplishing things professionally that astonished even me.

What I have done with this webinar is to break down the fundamentals of what I learned and in a concise and entertaining process, help you to understand why I feel I have found “The Absolute Best Way for Women to Make Money”. See if you agree with me. If not, you will learn some valuable things and, if you stay to the end, be rewarded with a no-obligation gift.

FAILING TO SUCCEED

A man can fail many times, but he isn’t a failure until he begins to blame somebody else.
– John Burroughs

Failure is frustrating, it’s an embarrassment and it’s depressing and demoralizing. But it is also inevitable. That is if you are living your life planning to succeed. No one can truly succeed by living within a safety zone, doing the sure thing, never risking or taking a chance. Success exists only where failure is a real possibility.

People who succeed do so against the odds. They don’t choose the well trodden path, they don’t follow the crowd and they don’t bet on the sure thing. There has to be an element of risk if there is truly a pay-off in the end.

Here are some simple ideas associated with failure and risk that are worth examining. If you are making a decision about what to do, or not to do, consider these things:

  1. Make sure the risk is worth the reward. Successful people take risks but they know what the reward is and calculate that it is bigger than the risk involved.

  1. If you fail, understand why you failed and take the opportunity to take corrective action to avoid that same mistake again. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is a form of insanity. The more accurately you analyze your failure, the faster you can turn it into a success.

  1. Don’t blame others or the situation. If you habitually do that you will never succeed. A young man came into our business with all the trappings of success – the skills, the attitude and the drive. And he was, at first, very successful. But he had one flaw and that flaw finally brought him down. He did not take personal responsibility. He blamed others for his failure and finally quit in disgust. Less than two weeks later one of those people he blamed for his lack of success began to work and six months later started producing the volume that would have made that young man thousands of dollars.   And they continued to do so month after month after month. He quit just shy of real success.

  1. Accept that if your failure is due to you and something you are or are not doing – then change what you are doing. One of the saddest phrases is “I can’t change.” Or “You can’t teach an old dog new trick.” Any statement that accepts that you are who you are and can do nothing about it will condemn you to perpetual failure. “I can’t sell.” “I never was good with people.” “I will never learn this or that.” These are all affirmations of failure and will prove themselves to be true. Unless an affirmation is one that creates success in your life – DON’T SAY IT! Even to yourself.

Someone approached me once about being in an article about business failure and how people rebounded. I said yes. The writer was very grateful because she was having a hard time finding people who would admit to and talk about their business failures. She asked, out of curiosity, why I had accepted to participate. In fact, it had never occurred to me not to and after I thought about it I told her “Because my failures have all led to my successes”.

Go out and embrace your life – that means both your successes and your failures. If you aren’t failing, you are likely not challenging yourself nor being the person and the success you could be. If you are succeeding, ask yourself “Could I succeed at a higher level?”

Live your life, don’t just exist!

To your success!

Lemons To Lemonade

Turning Lemons into Lemonade!

Turning the bad news into good news for your business.

The news is terrible! Everyday I am reading about gas prices going up, breaking $4 a gallon!

(My Canadian friends are smiling because they have been paying those prices for years.)

But the predictions that follow – the worst recession in decades, lay offs, high prices (except for housing which is dropping like a stone), and the list goes on and on. I even saw a story about a woman who stopped eating breakfast in order to afford to put gas in her car. It doesn’t take much of this horrible news to make you want to stay in bed and pull the covers up over your head. Because if you missed hearing it, just go out and talk to a few people and they will tell you everything that they heard.

It’s bad and getting worse!

Or is it? If you have read, seen or listened to the Secret, you know that what you focus on grows. So the more you find yourself focusing on lack, on troubles, on the no’s in life – is it surprising that you get more and more of them?

So let’s look in a different way about all the bad news you are hearing and let’s do it from the perspective of your Direct Sales business (although it could be from other perspectives as well).

Let’s take gas prices first. What does it mean that gas is costing more? Well the average family is now spending double or about $400 per month to fill up their tanks.

Here’s the good news for us:
1. They need to make extra money.
2. They would likely be interested in doing something that doesn’t require much driving i.e. a home based business
3. They probably would be interested to hear how they could save $200 – $600 a month on their taxes and at the very least make some of those expensive trips tax deductible.

Lay offs. United is planning to lay off 1,000 pilots (and then thousands of support people to those pilots).

Here’s the good news for us:
1. They need to find another way to make money. Note, I did not say a “job” as it is unlikely in a shrinking economy that they can find a comparable job in their same field.
2. They are use to making good money so they will be looking for businesses that pay well.
3. They are professional people who know professional people.

Home prices are dropping, affecting the construction industry and all the support systems to the construction and real estate industry.

Here’s the good news for us:
1. There are a lot of businesses (and real estate is just one) that will be temporarily affected by the recession. Why do I say “temporarily affected”? Because I’ve been through at least 4 of these recessions, and housing always bounces back. So many companies are looking for ways to just stay in the game. Offering a realtor a way to “tide them over” this recession could be very attractive to them. They can stay in the business but market something that adds value to their prospects (buyers as well as sellers) and puts cash in their pockets.
2. Many business owners are looking to diversify or add an additional profit center. i.e. chiropractors can add nutritional products, salon owners can add beauty products, accountants can add legal service plans, etc Some of them will do so temporarily, some permanently.

These are just a few examples of turning what appear to be negatives into positives. Let me throw out just one more. In every recession (and even during the great Depression) many people lost money, jobs and hope. But during that same time, other people made a fortune (can you say IBM?). What was the difference? We could argue that it was a lot of different things, but the most important, I believe, was the attitude of the people involved.

When stocks go down some people see it as bad thing, others think of it as stocks going on sale. When housing prices go down, some people see it as a bad thing, others see it as an opportunity to buy at lower prices. The rich (who are usually looking at things contrary to the poor) are the ones who take advantage and not just because they have money, but because they have a different attitude.

I encourage you to check your thoughts and your attitude. Are you worried and concerned about what is happening or are you looking for the opportunities that are out there? Are you reading the front page of the paper and getting depressed or are you studying the financial section for ideas of how to grow your business? Are you talking doom and gloom or are you speaking with optimism and excitement about what is happening?

Your attitude, your perspective, your thoughts will attract to you exactly what you are focused on.

When we speak next, I hope that you will tell me how you took off your dark glasses to really look for the opportunities that surround you. That you blessed a lot of people by showing them opportunities that they did not realize even existed and that you changes your life and the lives of others by really believing in the future and what can happen for all of us when we look at the world with gratitude and optimism rather than fear and trepidation.

To a bright and rewarding future for all of you, no matter what the news is saying!
